There are many paths through life. Beneath them all is us individuals, living, creating a past and looking into a future with our perception of the way the world works and our place in it based on the beliefs, faith and perceived reality that we hold. Within this life experience and perceptions certain things are learned, values created, beliefs given strength, desires created and morals formed.
In a perfect world we’d all have the same morals and would live in a peaceful world of everyone getting treated as they expected.
From this idea of moralistic peace springs a base question: “What are the base moral positions of religions, secular and political factions?”
Certainly we can agree on some basics for our time! Let’s consider these 10. We’ve all seen those “rules of life” lists. This is similar but builds on the “original” values list. What is missing or how would you change any of them to be better? How about the order, does it matter? Here is my start, please reply with your version.
1.The golden rule over all. That is the altruistic principle of treating others as one would wish to be treated.
As covenants of the respectful approach it would go on saying,
2. Be kind.
3. Be helpful to others.
4. Live and let live. Do not murder.
5. Respect others boundaries. Do not steal or cheat. Do not covet ‘that’ of your neighbor. In other words don’t compare yourself to others.
6. Honor your parents
7. Tell the truth always
8. Support ownership and freedom
9. Live a life larger than your own.
10. Be dependable.
11. Give without expecting a return from the same place.
12. Do not be gluttonous.
I portend, that this life is not supposed to be one of suffering. It is supposed to be joyful! The hardships of physical life are given. We need to rise above this in our attitude.
