The thought today is driven on a number of levels. Your future self depends on its past to put it in the best position possible. So “now” is your past and what you do in it affects you directly.
Letting go of the past to best create your future is a concept of time-space. As we move through time we create a past we recognize and hold onto, “living through that experience of what we learned from it.”
What we need to grasp is that experience creates NOW and “now” is the platform creating your future self. Who you will be tomorrow is based on your experience of today.
The interesting point of realization becomes poignantly vivid when we understand the past is all in our heads. We keep pulling it forward only by choice.
Rather than focusing on the past, take “now” and focus it on your future self. Carry forward what you want for your future self. Let the rest of the past go.
To-do: Make a list of who you want your future self to be, how you will live-what your life looks like. What in your past supports this? Keep that and let go of the rest.
Behaviors drive experience. With each step you can choose your behavior. Amoral feelings make this more difficult than it sounds but stay focused and you will learn you can choose your behavior. And let it be the best you can provide for your future self.
